New Work

Here is an update of my current studio work.  I have been working on trying to make the images look a bit more disorted so that the observer has to look harder in order to work out what the image contains.  Cecily Brown was my main inspiration for this.  Have a look and let me know what you think!

  1. I love the ideas of memeory and the composition of your piece. I particularly like the top picture with the inclined head - it seems really internal and self absorbed.

  2. Question - how are you applying paint in each of these? Looks like wet on wet in furthest one down - I love the impressionistic impasto effect of this. Have you tried using a palette knife? I did some Cecily Brown inspired stuff years ago and a palette knife was the best way to create big flat areas of paint and layers.

  3. At the moment I'm using acrylic paint and applying it with a paintbrush, I haven't got a palette knife at the moment, but I have been thinking that I would like to try making some work with one, I can definately see how that would be good for creating similar strokes to Cecily Brown's work.

    Thanks for the feedback!
